Right before Mother's Day, my younger child bought me Tomodachi Life as a gift. I had played the demo version for a week or so and had maxed out the functionality with my first few Miis. These Miis were Yibo and Xiao Zhan, natch.
Here they are chilling out at their kitchen table.
Because there were so few Miis on the island at the time, their romance went on the fast track.
Yibo was the first to confess his feelings.
ADDED: I just realized this graphic didn't save! Here's Yibo reacting to his decision to confess his feelings.
Here they run romantically on the beach together. Sadly, it appears I can't embed the video.
Xiao Zhan makes the first attempt at a proposal. In this game, you have to win a minigame to propose successfully. Well, the person playing the game, who has control over nearly every aspect of your life, has to win the minigame. I am not great at this minigame, and I was even worse early in the game. So...
Encouraged by me off screen, XZ takes the leap.
I won't bore you with the screencaps of my horrible gameplay. Sadly, XZ's attempt at a proposal was a failure.
Poor XZ.
Fortunately, Yibo decides to give it a go later. As you can see, he has trouble staying on track. (The premise of the minigame is that you keep the distracting thoughts away by shooting at them. This distracting thought made it through.)
(I added the "dui dui" to Yibo's speech patterns as an in joke to myself, but it turned out to be super annoying, so I took it out later.)
XZ, like the rest of us, is confused.
Yibo soldiers on.
He fails again. Offscreen, I apologize profusely for not properly avoiding stray thoughts of Zhang Jingyi.
Yibo is mortified.
Finally! He sticks the landing.
XZ seems willing to forgive the former admissions regarding Jomon-period pottery and Zhang Jingyi.
Somehow I missed the actual proposal, but XZ accepts.
NEXT TIME: The wedding and the honeymoon!
